Global Edge Investments ("GEI"), founded in 1998, is a vertically-integrated hospitality investment company that develops, acquires, manages and asset manages hotel and restaurant properties, primarily in the United States and Canada. The mission for the company is to create unique hospitality offerings with service that is second to none. From a team of one, the company has expanded in 8 years to over 700 associates through affiliated divisions and is directly linked to the oversight of $100 million in annual sales. On an opportunistic basis, GEI will make investments in the hospitality sector that fall outside of this core focus. GEI currently owns 2 hotels, 5 restaurants & bars and through its partnership with Crescent Hotels manages 14 hotels.

Anthony (Tony) Cohen

A businessman and entrepreneur, Tony is President & CEO of Global Edge Investments (GEI), a hospitality and lifestyle based investment company he founded in 1998. Tony has been involved in the hospitality industry for 18 years. Prior to founding GEI, he was an employee and minority shareholder in Canada's largest casual dining restaurant company, Prime Restaurants. Tony's passion is the guest experience and created GEI to invest, manage and create memorable service experiences. Through GEI, Tony has invested and managed assets of over $175 million in the hospitality industry. Tony attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and honed his skills by opening over 40 restaurants for a large Canadian company and implementing management and training programs, as well as working in hotels.

Concept Development

GEI develops innovative and unique hotel and restaurant concepts. We spend time understanding a market and identifying voids in the existing hotel and restaurant offering, and we respond by creating distinctive concepts that our target market didn't know they wanted. We have created a wide variety of dining concepts from casual to formal and across all types of cuisine. All of our concepts focus on the customers and the ultimate experience that they will receive and them finding value, no matter the price, in the experience.

GEI works on behalf of hotel owners to manage their investment. This service allows owners to invest in hotel real estate without the responsibility of managing the property or even overseeing the operator on a daily or even monthly basis. Hospitality Investments

GEI is an active investor in hotel assets. We have a preference for "lifestyle" or unique small luxury hotels in key urban markets. A "lifestyle hotel" is typically targeted at a specific market segment or demographic and reflects the unique personality of that clientele. They are also typically small in size (under 150 rooms), and large in creativity, attention to detail, and inspired design. GEI has invested in and created many restaurant concepts. Our existing portfolio of restaurants is associated with our hotel investments, but we will invest in interesting restaurant concepts on a stand-alone basis. We look for unique ideas, passionate and skilled operators, and viable locations.

Hotel Management

In 2009, GEI partnered with Crescent Hotels and Resorts (U.S.) to form Crescent Hotels and Resorts Canada. Crescent is one of North America's largest and most successful third-party hotel management companies. Crescent manages 55 hotels in the U.S. and Caribbean, and 14 properties in Canada. Crescent Canada has a full complement of corporate personnel who oversee their Canadian operations and are based out of the Canadian offices in Toronto. Crescent is one of only a handful of third-party management companies that is approved to manage all of the major hotel brands (Starwood, Intercontinental, Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton). Opened in 2003, the award winning Hotel Le Germain Toronto is a partnership between GEI and Groupe Germain from Quebec. The Hot List 2004, published in the May 2003 issues of Condé Nast Traveller U.K. and U.S., included Hotel Le Germain Toronto on a list of 50 of the most stylish and luxurious new hotels from around the world. The property was also awarded the 2003 Pierre Bougain Hotel of the Year (in the 250 rooms or less category) by the Greater Toronto Hotel Association. Hotel Le Germain has consistently achieved financial performance that is superior to its competitive set and one of the top in Toronto. It has also been awarded the CAA/AAA 4-diamond status each year since it began operations.
